Don Bosco Seminary, Karunapuram, is an Immediate Postnovitiate House, which trains the young Salesians to achieve a progressive integration of faith, culture and life and growth in the spirit and mission of Don Bosco. To facilitate the above process, it aims at imparting adequate philosophical, pedagogical and Catechetical preparation in dialogue with the prevailing culture (Constitution 114 and Ratio 296), in its Salesian Study Centre, named Vishwa Jyothi Don Bosco College.

VISHWA JYOTHI DON BOSCO COLLEGE

Vishwa Jyothi Don Bosco College is the Study Centre of Don Bosco Seminary, Karunapuram, which is owned and managed by the Salesian Province of Hyderabad and serves the different Salesian Provinces of South Asia (Ratio 145). It is also open to the students belonging to the dioceses of Andhra Pradesh, other religious congregations and societies of Apostolic Life, of men and women. Inspired by the charism of the Founder, St John Bosco, the Institute orients its formative process towards creating a vision for the mission of the Indian, educator-pastor-prophet-animator Salesian / priest (Ratio, 401-411). Inspired by pastoral and pedagogical orientation of the Salesian Mission (Ratio 132) and the demands of the Formation Plan / the Directory of the Province, the curriculum of the Study Centre integrates action and reflection. To facilitate this process of integration, the students are encouraged to immerse themselves in the lives of the people. Care is also taken to ensure that the dimensions of inter-religious dialogue, inculturation, contextualization and psycho-spiritual integration are present in the curriculum (Ratio, 136).
